Why Mobile Light Tower Applications are Important
The need to work in light challenged environments is nothing new; images of miners with candles on hardhats comes to mind, for a historical perspective. Today light towers are commonplace on our ever aging highways we regularly see teams of workers toiling away after midnight to allow for the commuters to have a minimal impact. Light towers provide illumination in challenging, even dangerous applications around the world. Indoor applications, sporting events, fuel refineries, demolition and even keeping a work-site lit to deter theft and vandalism are other ways light towers are used and less thought of by the general public.
Light towers are robustly constructed usually consisting of three major components; a generator to power the lamps, one or more high-intensity electric lamps and a mast. The mobility is usually provided by wheels and/or a trailer hitch. Other variations in supplying power include solar power, battery and hydrogen-powered. Newer versions have also incorporated more efficient LED lighting. Another innovation recently being used has inflatable masts, reducing weight, but sacrificing height and stability.
Industrial temporary lighting has come a long way from candles on hardhats, but the need has not, the safety and well-being of the workers and the protection of the work-space in low lit conditions.
