Why Aerial Lift Safety Inspections are a Must
Each week, our safety director has the opportunity of riding along with a sales representative for a day’s worth of sales calls and customer interaction. Along that trip, he typically encounters a customer with an aerial work platform or boom lift.
In almost all instances, the customer will explain they did not know this was required or that they have a maintenance team to do the annual inspection.
Either answer is not good enough for you, the aerial lift owner. Once an owner, you have a new set of responsibilities under A92.22 of ANSI. Some of which include; 3 years of inspection records to include each frequent and annual, a visible inspection sticker with the last annual inspection listed within the date range, and all inspection and maintenance performed by someone competent and knowledgeable on that make and model of lift.
It must be aboard the aerial lift at all times. Better yet, call your authorized Aerial Access provider for assistance through setting up an inspection program and take the responsibility and hassle off your plate.
